Took a few days off after the U.S. Open. Mostly due to sore achilles on both legs. They felt better today so I decided to get out for a zone 2 run. Wasn't sure how far I would go. For the first 1/2 mile I wasn't sure I was going to go more than a mile, but I finally got settled in. Ended up churning out a new distance PR! The run felt good and my legs didn't bother me at all. I can however tell that the achilles are not 100% yet so I will still try to take it easy on them for awhile. By this I mean I will not do any speed/form work as this is what really taxes my lower muscles and tendons. I need to be working on pushing the distances out at slower pace anyway now that triathlon season is officially over for me and I am now turning my attention toward training for two half marathons in the next couple of months. I won't completely drop the speed work, but I will be very careful and limited with it so as to allow my achilles to fully heal. I got a little behind on updating the training diary, but will get caught up in the next few days. Will include my race report from the U.S. Open Triathlon, which was a pretty cool experience.
