Legs were still a little sore from my first run in the Merrell's, but I felt like I might be able to test them out a little without too much chance of injury. Decided that the Merrell's will only be a once a week shoe for now until my legs are conditioned enough to run in them more often. Ran in my Asics Gel Nimbus shoes today. Goal was to go out slow and not push the legs too hard as I could still feel a decent amount of soreness. Started out at around a 9:45 pace and settled in closer to 9:30. Once I was settled in, I chugged out 5 miles!! A new distance PR. It is pretty amazing, and mirrors my previous experience with the barefoot style, but the distance comes so much easier after some barefoot training. Speed also increases on the shorter runs. I look forward to what gains will come in the future. Wishing I could run in the Merrell's more, but will be careful not to push that too far too early. Very happy with today's run!
