Started this run slow at 9:45 pace and after a half mile was feeling pretty good. 1st mile averaged out to a mediocre pace (8:45), but the last 2 miles were pretty quick (7:39 and 7:41). Thought I might get a new 5k PR and I did come close - within 20 seconds or so. If I had started out a little quicker I definitely could have posted a new PR, but that wasn't my goal starting out. I actually did set new PRs for the 2 mile (15:09), the 3km (14:06, and the Cooper 12 Minutes (2.55km). The Cooper 12 Minutes is a standard fitness test that tracks how far you can run in 12 minutes. Overall the run felt good and falls in line with my experience so far. Every run after a run in Merrill's feels really good. I did notice that my legs after the last Merrill run have not been as sore. Think they are starting to get conditioned to running in them. I have a 5k race on Saturday so will take tomorrow off to rest up for that. Looking forward to it. It is just a local 5k and fun run in my small town so nothing too serious, but it will be my first true run only race.
