Transitioned directly from bike to the run. Goal was to go 2 miles without stopping. The best I had been able to do on a brick before was 1 mile. I was able to go 1.8 miles in 00:17:19 and an average speed of 9:36/mile. Not so worried about the speed right now. I think if I can just do the full 5k coming off the bike without walking I will show a huge overall improvement in time. Once I attain that goal, I can worry about working the pace/time lower. Noticed that max heart rate was 173. Usually max is around 180 or more. Think this is an indicator of my aerobic capacity increasing. Didn't stop so much out of being out of breath as my legs being tired. This is a reversal of the past where my aerobic capacity was the thing holding me back. Will have to see if this is something that continues.
One last thing. Look at the total calories! 1010!!! Got to eat a lot of extra food today. Was eating all day. Still healthy stuff. Tuna, chicken, baby spinach, fruit, etc. Dinner was questionable, but was nice to be able to not worry about it. Here's the food diary for today: Shawn's Food Diary 07-01-14
