Decided to try and start stepping my workouts up toward Olympic distances. Was able to get the bike in, but the legs started cramping around 1 mile into the run. Didn't help that it was pretty hot by the time I started the run. Still, I was happy with this workout. Tried to work on keeping this a zone 2 workout, but just don't seem to be able to keep my heart rate in the 150's. Was mostly in the mid to high 160's for the whole ride and forget about it on the run. Immediately jumped into the 170's and really wasn't pushing hard. Guess the body's fitness level just isn't quite there yet. Of course, it is hard for me to hold back the effort to keep it down. Was always a sprinter and it is just natural for me to want to push the speed, but I am trying to learn to bring the effort level down in order to train for endurance. Just have to keep working at it.
