Was itching to get on the bike today as I didn't ride yesterday. Was dragging a bit this morning so just went straight into work and didn't work out. By 2:00 p.m. I was wanting to get some riding in. Decided that I was going to switch things up a bit. I have always been riding the 12 miles I would need to do for my upcoming triathlons. Mostly trying to lower my times over that distance. I thought today I would double the distance and work the endurance side rather than speed. Went out the same route out highway 82 to the west. Roughly 12.6 miles out and back. Was shooting to do 25 miles and got it done. The ride felt really good. It was 84 degrees out, sunny, and a very slight breeze. Headwinds weren't crazy going out or coming back. Once I got back though I was almost not prepared for unclipping and putting that first foot down. My legs were Jell-o! This was a new PR for distance for me so I was happy to have extended that out a bit. A bit being double my previous longest of approximately 12.5 miles! Will try to work in one of these longer rides periodically and once I feel like the 25 miler is a little more comfortable I will look at pushing it out even further.
