My training ride is almost always the same route. West on highway 82. It is a two lane highway, which I'm not crazy about safety-wise, but it has large shoulders that are pretty darn smooth. Basically the best road to ride around our small town. I wasn't sure how well I would do, this being my first ride since my triathlon. Throw on top of that yesterday's barefoot running and I wasn't expecting much out of myself. Well, I turned in another PR for this course. This is not as fast as my race, but it is much more hilly. It is a great training route because it basically offers up long hill intervals and works both your strength and endurance.
